My goal for this project is to make a Taliesin Lamp out of parts small enough so I can build the lamp at home. I don't have a lot of fine woodworking tools but I have plenty of hand modeling tools from college. Each section of the lamp (base, stem and diffuser) was layered using thinner pieces of wood so I could cut them using hand tools or knives.
I wanted to add a little of my own personal styling to the lamp so I used the red color as the primary stem connecting all the other parts together. I then layered 2 different color wood stains around the red stem. The red squares with the fins are then fixed to the stem and act as the connectors for the diffusers which slide over the fins. Each diffuser is layered with 1/16" thick veneers layered on top of each other so when the lights are on a pattern can be seen through the wood.
Procedural Rendering
The materials (textures and colors) are all computer generated.
Next Phase: creating some test models!
